Embracing the Practice of Listening
Francis Burgos
Pendle Hill Executive Director
RCC Stewardship Circle Member
Connecting with my peers in a supportive, genuine, and courageous way through RCC has been an invaluable gift. I became Pendle Hill’s Executive Director in 2020 when we were facing a global pandemic. I was very enthusiastic for my new call in service, but I knew that the job that I was offered had different beauties and challenges than the job that I applied to.
RCC’s Listening Circle has been a beacon of resilience for me. It is a special space that brings together powerful networking, honest explorations, mutual support, and the deep celebration and appreciation for diversity. The Listening Circle has provided me not just a forum to discuss business, but a circle of friends who really practice active listening as we nurture our connections and as we support RCC’s mission and vision. At the Listening Circle we share our own experience as leaders of retreat centers including the many ideas, skills, and learnings that each of us bring to the table as we navigate the multiple realities that we face.
As RCC continues to evolve, I encourage you to consider joining the Listening Circle. In these complex times, the Listening Circle offers a distinct space for meaningful dialogue that supports personal journeys, leadership, and the broader RCC mission.
