Sharing Poems of Gratitude and Resilience

On this call led by Margarita Solis-Deal from the Mother Boniface Spirituality Center in Pennsylvania, participants shared poems that have given them strength and inspired them in the important work of retreat centers. Using a contemplative approach that drew on practices like lectio divina, dharma contemplation, and haggadah, participants brought their favorite poems to share and savored the nuances of the words by reading them aloud.

Pausing to Reflect

During this session, each participant was invited to listen deeply, read slowly, and allow space for silence before responses. Taking the time to slow down and turn inward together, participants held space for a well of deep sharing—including laughter, heartache, and awe.

We invite you to peruse the collection of poems below. Listen deeply, read slowly, and take time to digest meanings. Try recording your responses in a journal, or share a phrase or two with a friend.

More Poetry

In November of 2021, RCC hosted a similar call where community members came together to reflect on gratitude and resilience through poetry. Check out this previous blog post to see the poems participants shared.
