BIPOC People in Retreat Spaces Affinity Group

Through the Racial Healing Initiative, RCC is working alongside retreat centers to build capacity across the sector toward racial equity. Affinity groups are part of the RCC’s commitment to disrupt systems of oppression and catalyze our collective healing and liberation. This offering is for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color working in retreat spaces. Our goals are:

1. To cultivate a sense of solidarity amongst BIPOC members of this sector.

2. To affirm the unique lived experiences of all participants.

3. To empower individuals to show up authentically in their retreat communities and beyond.

4. To reinforce the notion that opportunities to rest and retreat must be available to ALL.

5. To invite the envisioning of retreat spaces created for and by BIPOC people and assess opportunities for action.

About the Facilitator

Rev. Lorren Z. Buck, MDiv. is a sexual liberation theologian whose healing activism reflects her bold sentiments that the Creator desires people to experience pleasure and healing from the legacy of sexual violence and repressive ecclesial pedagogy. This to her is a holy act of resistance. Lorren is an embodiment healing practitioner and certified pole instructor. She works with retreat centers as a core consultant for the Racial Healing Initiative, and is living out her pastoral call as a spiritual entrepreneur through her LLC, The Theological Institute for Sexology. There she supports seekers on a pilgrimage towards self-acceptance, sexual exploration and spiritual discovery.
